Dhanamanjuri University

Dhanamanjuri University (DMU) is a prominent state university located in Imphal, Manipur, India. Established under The Dhanamanjuri University Act, 2017, the university came into existence on April 6, 2018, following the passing of the bill in the Manipur Legislative Assembly on August 3, 2017. It was set up under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) to enhance higher education in the region.

Historical Background

The university is named after Maharani Dhanamanjuri Devi, the wife of Maharaj Churachand Singh, in recognition of her significant contributions to the development of education in Manipur. DMU was formed by integrating three esteemed institutions:​

DM College of Science​

DM College of Arts​

DM College of Commerce​

Additionally, two other colleges became part of the university:​

G.P. Women's College​

LMS Law College​

These institutions are situated in close proximity within Imphal city, with the main campus bordered by National Highway No.2, Thangmeiband Road, and the Nambul River.
