Sabarmati University, established as Gujarat's first state private dual-mode university, is strategically located near Vishnu Devi Circle in Ahmedabad. Founded with a clear focus on fostering skill development and interdisciplinary education, the university was granted the esteemed status of a state private university in 2009 under Gujarat State Legislature Act No. 8, later amended by Act No. 20 in 2019.

In accordance with Section 22 of the UGC Act, Sabarmati University is authorized to offer, recognize, and certify degrees for students enrolled in its regular, on-campus programs. The university is accredited and recognized by key bodies including the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Government of Gujarat, the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), and the Bar Council of India (BCI), with effect from 2009. It operates under the distinguished guidance of its Board of Management (BOM), governing bodies, and specialized committees.
